AHAGlow Skin Rejuvinating Face Wash Gel Review

AHAGlow is one of the very few face wash options in India that have AHA. Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin, keeping skin pores unclogged, thereby preventing acne breakouts.

AHAglow has 1% AHA, which is good enough for daily maintenance of acne if you are using other acne treatments alongside. Because of its exfoliation action (you may see skin peeling), AHAGlow also evens out the skin over time (give it 2 months), reducing dark pimple marks and acne scarring. AHAGlow also has aloe vera and vitamin E, in a non-comedogenic gel base. What’s not to like?

The best part? You can use AHAGlow as a spot treatment of acne. Dab a bit of the transparent gel on a newly-forming pimple or cyst and it will most likely subside without leaving a dark spot behind. AHAGlow kind of calms the pimple without bringing it to a white pus-filled head, so you minimize chances of scarring. Do not leave it on for over an hour or so, otherwise you risk irritation and spot darkening.

AHAGlow lives up to its AHA claim. Just don’t expect any Glow and you will be fine. AHAGlow reduces the redness caused by pimples, likely due to its 5% aloe vera content. The price of AHAGlow face wash is Rs. 107 for 50ml. AHAGlow is available at medical stores – ask for Torrent Pharma AHAGlow.

Limit using AHAGlow to once a day to avoid the risk of skin over-drying and peeling. If you need to wash your face more than once a day, use a milder face wash for the rest of the times.

This was a review of the older AHAGlow in blue tube packaging. This information still applies. You can read a review of the new AHAGlow (yellow tube) here.

How about Rejuglow ? Also is it advisable to go for a monthly face clean-up, facial in a parlour for acne prone skin ?

    • Profile photo of AM
      AM April 20, 2013 at 1:08 am #

Rejuglow is another lesser known face wash with 2% glycolic acid, 1% salicylic acid, 5% aloe vera and vitamin E 0.5%. Rejuglow is a close match to AHAGlow – it even has all the same remaining ingredients – aloe vera and vitamin E in the same concentrations. Except, Rejuglow also contains salicylic acid.

A monthly clean up at a parlour is a good idea only if the facialists know what they are doing. Say no to any massage creams (unless you take your own with you) or bleaches and ask them to do just a clean-up which may involve facial steaming and a face pack (opt for a mud pack instead of fancy ones).

Thanks . Any suggested massage cream and face pack or any facial kit ?

recently u told me dat using of keracnyl foaming facewash…for oily skin..due to non avalilibilty of keracnyl…i purchased aha glow skin rejuvenating face wash..bcoz my skin is oily ..that causes acne to my face..some acne leavd scares on my face…soo pls tell me its is good naa..or wrong decision..im also using benzoyle peraoxide 2.5% gel at selected acne prone area….

      AM May 8, 2013 at 10:23 am #

Jitender, AHAGlow is a milder face wash than Keracnyl but give it a try. Use it twice a day (morning, night). If you don’t see improvement in 2-3 weeks, you might need to add in an exfoliating cream or get Keracnyl from online websites.

  3. sonu dilli kkc May 8, 2013 at 12:23 pm #

hiii…u suggestd me exfoliating cream…what is this..pllz tell me..and plz tell me best exfoliating cream wid der name…which is easily available at chemist..hw to use…or use thogether wid daa aha glow face wash …

      AM May 8, 2013 at 12:27 pm #

Jitender, why don’t you try AHAglow for a week, then lets see how it goes? If you are in a hurry Glyco 6 is the exfoliating cream I was talking about. But I’m afraid that if you rush into including too many products at once (you are already using Benzoyl Peroxide which is pretty drying and irritating), that irritation can lead to more acne. Let your skin stabilize, take a break from all those pore-clogging face washes you were using and stick to AHAGlow for a week. And remember, these are just suggestions, not guarantees.

Acne is a cyclical problem. Even if the skin becomes clear at some point, acne can resurface at a later stage in life due to hormonal changes such as reaching puberty, during pregnancy, after pregnancy or nearing menopause. And yes, it can come back suddenly, full force.

For acne prone skin, even products that are not related to acne should be chosen carefully. Comedogenic products can cause acne and nullify the effect of any anti-acne treatments you might be using. It is like having a sore throat. While you are still taking medication for a sore throat, you can’t start eating ice cream alongside, can you? So you will need to choose all the skin care products carefully. Perhaps try AHAGlow face wash for one week and nothing else on the skin. If the problem does not subside, either consult a dermatologist or let us know for some more suggestions.

where to find this face wash in Kolkata?

    • tejupriya June 28, 2013 at 6:32 pm #

hi tina..if u are talking about aha glow..it is pretty much available at all medical shops..

    • Shobhan August 7, 2013 at 2:25 pm #

As AM said AHAGlow facwash can be found in just about any medical shops and if you can’t find it in your place you can visit dhanawantary outlets in esplanade, alipore, behala etc. Besides Dhanawantary thr are other medical chains like appolo,Blueprint and Dey’s or any such pharmaceutical chains in the city.

Hi Prashant, welcome to Acne Mantra. Salicia is a salicylic acid cream, isn’t it? You could use glyco 6 and Salicia on alternate nights if your skin can tolerate them without reddening or peeling too much.

If you would post in the Q&A area with info about the kind of acne you have, what other (all) products you use on your face etc. then community members will be able to help you further. :)

      AM July 7, 2013 at 5:53 am #

“if u say ur rgimen works il stop using it.” – Sakshi, please don’t put the responsibility on us – the regimen etc. is purely information, not a guarantee. You have to take responsibility for your own skin, we can’t do that for you. You will need to make an informed choice, we can only tell you about the options. We are not selling anything here, it is up to you to decide to use the regimen or not.

As far as I can tell, you should be able to use the regimen and Triacneal as long as you feel the need. Aroma Magic Hydro Gel is a moisturizer, not a sunscreen. Start slow, add in one product at a time instead of trying too many at once.

    • tejupriya July 7, 2013 at 9:43 am #

sakhi these are suggestions and have worked for many..but its not a guarantee..u are responsible for ur choices..there is plenty of information available on acnemantra and detailed reviews so use ur judgement..with acne there is no permanent treatment,it has to be maintained life long..
      more info on avene triacneal
      clindamycin is doctor prescribed application..

Hi Prashant, the best option for you would be to meet a dermatologist who will prescribe medicines to bring acne under control. I’m not sure about the best option to remove facial hair, but a doctor will be able to advise you in case excessive facial hair is due to hormonal imbalance.

    • Profile photo of AM
      AM July 17, 2013 at 5:33 pm #

It is not your imagination. A lot of us here think that Cetaphil is not enough to remove sunscreen, moisturizer or makeup. Cetaphil is one of those comfort cleansers, which you can use in your morning shower if you woke up with a more or less clean face. Or when your skin feels irritated from all the acne treatments. It is good to have on hand, but you will need a thorough cleanser for the evening.

    Hi ,

I dont know why my skin is becoming dull and shading black ? I am regularly using Lotus Herbal sunscreen SPF 50 , glyco A and sebamed facewash. I feel sebamed is not cleaning the face 100% , yes i do see that i helps to reducing pimples. Is it the rainy season that effects a lot on the skin?

    • Profile photo of TejuPriya
      TejuPriya July 22, 2013 at 8:29 pm #

hi rohit sebamed is mild cleanser..try adding another facewash like aha glow along with sebamed..are u regularly using sunscreen?

    • Profile photo of AM
      AM July 22, 2013 at 8:37 pm #

Hi Rohit, it is possible that the greasy base of Glyco A cream is creating a dark, oily (?) look. Secondly, Sebamed might not be cleaning it out completely so that greasy / dark effect lasts through the day. I have 2 suggestions (um, not guarantees, but just friendly advice): use Olay Foaming Face Wash for Sensitive Skin (this exact version, not Clarity or Moisture Boost or anything) to your regimen and switch to the gel version of 12% glycolic acid called Olliza gel. It has the same percent of glycolic acid but in a gel base instead of an oily / greasy base. In the morning, wash face with Olay, then again with Sebamed Cleansing Foam.

A totally different solution (possibly easier) is to stop using Glyco A and instead use a face wash called Glycolite which has skin lightening ingredients as well. Use Glycolite in the morning, followed by Sebamed Cleansing Foam. If your Sebamed is getting over and you’re not getting new pimples, you could stop using it altogether.

A third solution is to alternate a skin lightening cream with Glyco A / Olliza Gel nightly.

Hi Acne Mantra! I must firstly thank you for creating such a comprehensive website with all the information needed by people like me suffering from acne. I am a 21 years female suffering from pimples and acne for a quite some years now but never really tried my hands on any treatment products until I came across your website. I have a very oily skin type. I went through most of your posts… and have begun my regime by buying AHAglow face wash (using it twice a day), suncote sunscreen and clean and clear skin balancing moisturizer. Have been trying to buy the sebamed cleansing foam (planning to use it in the morning and AHAglow in the evenings) as well but my local medical store does not have it yet. I have the following questions:

    1. I have started using AHAglow two days back, and it is causing irritation to my skin. Is that normal?
    2. I have a lot of dark spots from previous pimples, so should I also add a depigmentation cream such as Carofit to my regime?
    3. Does a combination of Multani Mitti and rosewater really help in treating acne and clearing skin? It did help me in the past, so should I continue using it with this regime that I have now started?
    4. Do I also need to buy any other skin treatment cream such as Glyco 6 or triacneal?

I know those were a lot of random questions at once, but I would be grateful if you could answer all my queries.

    Thanking you in advance.

hi purvi..acne is caused by hormonal imbalances like thyroid, pcos, insulin resistance etc..it is best to consult a doctor to rule out these causes before u start dealing with acne..if oil control is an issues, check out these options

sebamed is available online at healthkart.com , medplusbeauty.com..

look into this link for more info on starter regimen and product suggestions

1.what kind of irritation are u facing?if dryness/peeling,its normal..a good moisturizer can fix this problem..in that case use aha glow once a day and gradually make it twice a day..if breakouts,it spossible aha glow aint suiting u..switch to milder cleanser like sebamed cleansing foam..

2.if and only if your acne is under control,u can add a de-pigmentation cream..look into starter regimen for step by step instructions.

3.Multani mitti helps but the ones available in the market contains extra additives for enhance its properties like colour, smell, shelf life..rose water does nothing special to acne..plus until and unless acne is under control steer away from temptations of adding new products unnecessarily..later after two weeks or so if necessary u can add proactiv refining mask which contains sulphur, mineral clay, tea tree oil..

4.only facewash cannot make a difference with treating acne..a complete regimen often helps tackle acne better..

there are tons of informative articles on acnemantra do spend some time reading those and educating yourself on the acne,treatments,products..they will definitely help u ..also further u can post your questions in the community section where you will responses, feedback from the community users :)

  32. Purvi July 24, 2013 at 12:32 am #

Thank you so much Tejupriya for all your responses. Guess I would begin by consulting a doctor to rule out the acne causes as you suggested :)

hi sravan..aha glow alone cannot help with u acne..u need a complete regimen for that..plus one week is too short to see any difference..if u are not seeing any irritation because of aha glow then u can continue to use it..
u preserve the results, u have to make sure not to use any other comedogenic products along with it like sunscreen, moisturizer etc
look into one of these regimen for more details, they will help u better..

hi sravan regimen mean a complete set of products like sunscreen, moisturizer, facewash, acne cream,exfoliant..aha glow alone is not sufficient to treat acne..regimen works well for that..
for more info and details look into one of the regimens
if no irritation u can continue aha glow..
glyco 6 is acne cream used for acne and scars..
tons of information available on acnemantra so do read up and educate yourself on the do and donts of acne, treatments, products suggestions etc.
u can also post questions in the community where you will responses from community and user experiences… :)

Hi Sravan..You gotta be patient.. :)
You arent giving enough time for any product to do its work..
Use Aha glow only for a week and add a oil free moisturizer if needed only..
      Garnier neem wash is comedogenic..

Can AhA glow be used during pregnancy?
I am 22 weeks pregnant and have developed acne on my face.
    earlier had clear skin.
I am skeptical about using anything on my face now, but the came doesn’t seem to improve.
please advise if its safe to start using this product and whether i can continue throughout my pregnancy.
    thanks in advance

      Hi Supriya..Congrats on your baby:)
Your acne is due hormones..Most of the acne medications are not allowed before/during/after pregnancy..So please be very careful regarding that..
Facewashes should be okay to use..
You can try sebamed cleansing foam and aha glow..
Just crosscheck with your doctor before you use..Good Luck and Take Care :)

I am having dark screen something like Sun tanning.
Can i used this faced wash to reduces the darkness of screen and improve skin tone. I have used lot of other face wash like Himalaya, clean and clear but no use.

  42. priyanka k August 28, 2013 at 12:07 am #

hi teju…. i’m again getting break out so i’m thinking to consult doc …. u prefer glomed over sebamed??
I have read sebamed kills pimple causing bacteria in 5 mins so i was thinking to get it … right now i’m using kaya cleanser n AHA glow

Hi Priyanka..You getting breakouts since you added kaya is it?
Can you tell me what other products you are using?
One of them is not suiting you..
Sebamed Clear face cleansing foam is a mild and treatment cleanser..
Its true to what it claims..It has a special ingredient called Montaline C40 which kills thousands of bacteria in 5 minutes..Since you having breakouts, you can use this,it will definitely help you..
One disadvantage of Sebamed ,since it is mild cleanser it cannot properly cleanse..I prefer to use this in the morning when the face is almost clean and there is nothing on the face..So you will be need a proper neutral cleanser that means it will only cleanse and no acne benefits like Sebamed..Kaya is only option..Looks like its not suiting you so can look into new options added in the budget regimen like Fabindia tea tree facewash,Himalaya neem facewash etc…
Since AHA Glow isnt working out for you, dont worry about it and look into one of these options..
Apply Sebonac Gel on the pimples,it will heal faster..

  43. priyanka k August 28, 2013 at 12:56 am #

I’m so confused … I dint get any new pimple since i was following CPP n my face had become clear n marks too were fading…but now suddenly my both cheek got 4 big pimples… :-(

  44. priyanka k August 28, 2013 at 8:34 pm #

ya might be kaya dint suit me i willl try sebonac gel n other cleanser thank you teju :-)

      TejuPriya August 29, 2013 at 10:11 am #

It looks it dear,Kaya might not be suiting you..Discontinue for few days and see if its teh culprit..
Glomed is a good facewash priyanka,I actually have been using it from last week for my CPP regimen..I think you will find it suitable too..Since you are used to AHA Glow for a while,Glomed which is 5% glycolic acid shouldn’t be a problem..If you plan on using it then make once a day initially and gradually make it twice..
Sebonac please note to use it sparingly ..Initially leave it on for an hour and wash it away..after a week make it alternate nights..
If sebonac is too much, buffer with a aloe vera gel :)

Hi Priyanka, which Kaya Skin Clinic product did you use? Could you post your current skin care routine in the community area so we can troubleshoot why you are suddenly getting pimples. Kaya Pigmentation Reducer Gel is an excellent product and I’d hate for you to miss out on its benefits given that you’ve already bought it. It could be something else in your routine. Post in the community and maybe we’ll figure it out.

  45. priyanka k August 29, 2013 at 8:14 pm #

    Hi, AM
    My routine is
Morning – Kaya purifying cleanser( if i’m stepping out then clean n clear fairness cream )
At noon – Kaya purifying cleanser
    Evening- AHA glow face wash
At night – Kaya Purifying cleanser n kaya skin toner followed by kaya nourishing night cream

Since I dint get suncote sunscreen online n in medical shop where i live i’m not using any sunscreen coz most of the time i’m staying indoors n i do wear make up( revlon new complexion 3 in 1 compact ) occasionally once or twice in a month n i make sure to remove make up aft 3-4 hrs but still i’m getting break out mostly on same part of my face … kaya cleanser is about to get over n i dont like smell of AHA glow i’ve to switch to other face wash
as per Tejupriya suggestion I’m thinking to replace kaya with sebamed n AHA glow with glomed

Hi Priyanka, Revlon New Complexion 3-in-1 has a few highly comedogenic ingredients that are enough to cause breakouts even with occasional use. Also, Kaya Purifying Cleanser has some olive oil esters that are possibly pore-clogging. This is why I tell people to use Kaya Soothing Cleansing Gel, not the Purifying Cleanser. It is totally possible that Purifying Cleanser is breaking you out. Kaya Soothing Cleansing Gel is a neutral cleanser without all the anti-acne stuff and added oils. Cut out these 2 products from your regimen and see. For further questions, please just post in the community area.

  46. priyanka k August 29, 2013 at 9:38 pm #

Ok i will not use revlon from now onwards .. I wanted to get kaya soothing gel only but the guy in kaya skin bar suggested purifying cleanser .. … I will get soothing gel … thank u… to post in community area I’m not able to log in n not able to reset password too :-(

I get occassional pimples. I use aha glow face wash as my night time face wash. My major concern is to clear out the spots left by acne. Should i switch to ducray keracnyl face wash or is aha glow sufficient for lightening spots? Also is kaya de pigmentation gel a good choice for me start now?

    Hi AM and folks,

Pls help me with the regim I’m following if its fine or not
    Morning – seamed cleansing foam
Morning – clinque anti blemish clarifying lotion
    Morning- strea c 10 vitamin C capsule
    Morning – suncros sunscreen

Evening – just wash my face with plain water

Night – kaya soothing cleansing gel / or AHA glow I have both
Night – clinque anti blemish clarifying lotion
Night – nadoxin and kojivit gel on alternate nights

If in between I feel dryness I use seamed derma hydrating gel.

Though I don’t have any acne on my face except for one tiny one, I do have lot of post acne marks.

Pls suggest if the above regimen I’m following is the right one and I can target to reduce my dark spots in coming months..

    Would really appreciate your reply.
