Was wondering if Glyco 12/Oliiza Gel would help in fading some blackness/darkness on the back. Or would a Lactic acid/retinoid based option would be better ? Please suggest suitable products.
…or may be a azelaic acid product ?
Hi Scorpio..Are u refering to acne marks or tanning?
One option for both is chemical peeling..2/3 sittings should do the trick..
H, not referring to tanning or acne marks just general blackness on lower back. And yes i have already gone through all the blog quite extensively. Thanks
Scorpio chemical peeling can help you with any kind of pigmentation issues and effective too..
I have done in on my face and hands, its safe..
You could try a TCA peel as it is the back. Will take 3 to 4 weeks to show result but can expect a very good smooth even layer & all the dead skin on the top will come off. This is a stong peel but very effective for the back.
after the peel, you can apply some lightening cream since the peel would have exfoliated the area well. It did for me. ARET HC cream is one option to use after the peel, you will experience some dryness & itching but trick is to ease into it gradually & very little is needed too. was very effective for me surely. you should see good improvement in about 6 weeks if you combine the two.
Thanks Tejupriya and Lalitha.
Lalitha, from the name ARET HC looks like a Retinoid and Hydroquinone . Is that what it is ?
I am not considering peeling as an option as the problem is not that severe ( thankfully :)) Just wnat something to make the skin look clearer and brighter hence on the lookout for a topical application . Any suggestions there ?
Yes scorpio..It is steriod..Consult your doctor if you plan on using this..
You can try body wash or soaps which has lightening ingredients..
Keracynl foaming gel can be used face and body..
I has used called Azac which has azelaic acid..
Yup scorpio, it is Hydroquinone & Tretinoin .
It was prescribed by my doctor & worked very well for me. You can use it for a period of 8 to 10 weeks & see. Can check with your doc & ask if it is fine to use. Since it is skin on the back which is thicker & won’t be exposed to sun anyways, I am assuming it should be fine to use.
is the dark skin due to sun damage or any other reason? reason I am asking is certain ingredients are meant for certain cases of skin darkening. So whilst hydroquinone may work for PIH , it may not work for basic skin darkening due to any other reason. It also does not work for brown spots due to tanning. So it’s better to assess the reason for skin darkening first & then get a cream prescribed for the same.
