Hi Varsha, anything I write here will not be as detailed as what you will see in this post. So please go over it, slowly, carefully, following every link and you will be able to answer many of your questions including why some of the products you are using are not right for you.

Jumping to any regimen is not a good idea unless you have understood some of the acne basics. The link I mentioned above will help you get started on the right track. :)

@acnemantra Hi AM,
Thanks, it has really answered lot of my questions . Actually there cannot be any shortcut.
Finally I have decided to follow starter regimen.
Sebamed + sunprotek 50 in morning.
But in evening I am confused. I would like to target first to control mild acne which has occured I don’t how?

Since I have sensitive skin with light brown patches on cheeks, I need your advice for evening regemine.
Thanks

Hi Varsha, ok great, now that you’ve read through the page, you probably figured out that your skin is APST 1 type. Which means that your mild acne will go away once you stop using pore-clogging products in your routine. You would have also figured that almost all of the products you are currently using are pore-clogging or comedogenic. One way to rule out what is causing the breakouts is to think back to what product you had started using when you first noticed these breakouts.

Reading that page, you would have understood that Starter Regimen is meant for severe acne, not mild. Why would you want to use it then? Also, picking a couple products here and there from a regimen does not mean that one is following that regimen. Sebamed Cleansing Foam is not the best choice for dry, sensitive skin.

Perhaps try this simpler regimen for 2 weeks and see if this clears things up for you: Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion for Sensitive Skin in the morning + Sunprotek Gel SPF 50+ then Kaya Soothing Cleansing Gel at night. You do not need to use any acne cream etc. If your skin feels dry, you might still use Patanjali aloe vera gel. APST 1 type skin usually doesn’t break out from it. During this time try to avoid temptation to add new products. In your case, Sebamed Sun Care Spray SPF 30 would have been a better choice since it is well-suited to sensitive skin and is non-comedogenic as well.

You do not need to worry about hyper pigmentation right now. First let your skin clear up. Using too much on sensitive skin can cause irritation. Good luck and keep us posted. :)

@Varsha, first try what AM suggested and if things doesn’t clear, you can add acne cream by AM suggestion.

You can get Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion n Sunprotek Gel at medical stores and Kaya Soothing Cleansing Gel n Sebamed Sun Care Spray at online sites.

Great to know of your progress so far. :) Keep at it for at least a few weeks before adding in new products. You could use Kaya Soothing Cleansing mid-day as well. After washing with it if the face feels dry, you could do a second round with Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion, that will moisturize as well as soften the skin. At this time, experiments with new night cream, moisturizer may not be a good idea since your goal currently is to nail down a repeatable way of clearing up your skin. Once you have that basic set of products that just works for you, you can always scale back to it if any new product backfires.

Hi Varsha, happy to hear of your progress and to know that you are feeling more confident and in control instead of letting the acne control you. If you are well settled in your Cetaphil cleansing lotion+ Sebamed sunscreen spf 30 + kaya soothing gel, and only been using these 3 products, it may be time to add in an anti-acne product.

You could consider adding Sebamed Cleansing Foam for your night time face wash. After cleansing with Kaya Soothing Cleansing Gel, use Sebamed Cleansing Foam. If this causes too much dryness, shift Sebamed Foam to morning, after using Cetaphil. The idea is to have Sebamed Foam as the last product used on the skin so its effect stays. Slowly, you might phase out Cetpahil Cleansing Lotion if you don’t notice too much dryness and only use Sebamed Cleansing Foam. As you see, this may involve some trial and error, but you will get there. :)

Hi AM @acnemantra.  it’s been long so I thought let me post the updates. My old pimples have already dried up and no new pimples yet.but my sebamed foaming gel yet expected by Monday which I ordered online. Had just followed routine mentioned by you.

Just have some pimple marks. Is this time to add any moisturiser for uneven skin, I mean pigmentation and discoloration . Sometimes in evening my skin feels but dry. Please suggest.

Lastly was also looking for any tinted moisture for daily use and also which brand foundation I can buy foursome special occasions.

Thanks.

Hi @acnemantra ,

I have started using Sebamed cleasing foam. Now concern is pimple spots that too on right cheek and pigmentation as mentioned before.

Its almost one month i am following the routine. But as posted in my earlier message also is it time to add any moisturises and depigmentation cream.

I would appreciate if you check and revert on my earlier post also.

Thanks

Hi @acnemantra.Need your advice asap. I am using cetaphil lotion in mroning+ sebamed sunscreen+ kaya soothing gel evening. No new pimples have occurred.

But the old pimples sometimes disappear on right side of face and suddenly become active causing redness. Skin is not dry at all. Whenever i feel dryness i use pitanjali aloe vera gel that all.

I am confused why right side is not getting clear.Today i can see lot of redness. Please advice if any alterations needed.

Patanajli Aloe Vera Gel as I had mentioned earlier is comedogenic. APST 1 skin is usually fine with it, but still, cut it out from your regimen and see if that helps. Are you not using Sebamed Foam anymore? Could that have been causing your redness? I don’t know what else to say. You kind of have a working routine going on, and some shuffling like cutting out Patanjali, adding back Sebamed Foam etc. may resolve the situation.

Thanks a ton AM @acnemantra. Cutting down patanjali has really helped. Sebamed foam ordered online which got late so was delayed.

All redness has gone and pimples too sitting down but sometimes become active. What next I should plan. I used to go for aroma cleanup and bleach which I am avoiding since 2 months.

How do I continue to get best results. Shall definitely follow u r advice

You had mentioned that you have started using Sebamed Foam. I’d personally not advise any kind of cleanup at salons unless they are at medical spas and the doctors know what they are doing. So it is up to you to use your best judgment and take the call about aroma cleanup etc. Adding in Sebamed Cleansing Foam would help.

@acnemantra You are right , i started using by 20th march but due to my travelling i misplaced somewhere in my house. After finding it yesterday ,Now i started back. I mentioned delay of starting sebamed foam as i started it after almost 15 days as last mentioned by you. The redness is all gone. So let me follow this for some more days before i proceed i think.

I would really consider your advice of spas at salons. :)
