Hi AM. Finally registered and asking questions in the proper forum(after being tooooo lazy to do so in the first place. :D). So as I have already stated, I was having somewhere between mild to moderate acne with one or two coming up near the nose on the right side. (that part has been red for about 3 months now and that is where I keep getting those one or two). My major problem was spots which had been left over. Thus after much deliberation and research and suggestions from AM and Tejupriya, I worked out a regime just 17 days (Day 0) back:
Morning: Was face with sebamed cleanser (as per the instructions, twice a day and keep it on fro 5 minutes before rinsing), then during my bath wash face with Himalaya Neem facewash. and go to work.
Night: Wash face with sebamed again, apply a paste of turmeric, neem and sandal wood and go to sleep.
This routine gave me temporary relief from spots as they became considerably lighter. But from the 5th day of applying sebamed, they started becoming more prominent. I thought this was because I wasn’t using a sunscreen. Hence after 5 more days(11th day) I started using Suncote sunscreen. Since my major concern were those spots from the beginning itself, I wanted to hasten the process and asked for the same. I was suggested to go for a glycolic face wash or carofit ultra. I selected AHA glow and started using it from the 15th day onwards. My regimen slightly changed to washing with aha glow in the night instead of sebamed. But I noticed that just before I applied aha glow (13th/14th day), the part beside my nose started developing a pimple. Also in the mean time I had a sudden breakout on my forehead. But I ignored it and thought aha glow will take care of it. However now it has turned worse and my forehead has got a lot of bumps with angry red spots but no white heads and the part beside my nose had got 3 pimples, one with a head and the other two below the skin and painful on touch. So now if AM or Tejupriya Ma’am or any other respected Sir/Ma’am could suggest me a way out of it, I would be extremely indebted. Some of the options that I have considered are:
1. Wait it out and stop applying AHA glow till the acne recedes and then gradually start using aha again. 2. Stop using AHA altogether, try carofit on spots and wait out on those acne. 3. Apply an anti acne cream like sebanol as suggested in the budget regimen and try that and aha glow on alternate days. 4. Apply sebanol along with carofit and not aha glow
I know that you have all fallen asleep after reading my Mahabharat (assuming that you read the entire thing of course. ;D) So after waking up, please suggest me one or the other method/s that you feel could work.
PS: @AM ,I have put the same thing in the comments section as well (in glycolic face washes article), but for further continuation I re-posted the entire thing (along with the timeline and other details for better transparency. Extremely sorry for being redundant. :)
hi sumit..i replied your comment..
sumit i suspect your home made mask..now u are under regimen not u do not this mask..i really feel the homemade mask that too overnight mask is irritating your skin..i really missed this and i was wondering why u still breaking out..now i figured..starter regimen itself is a powerful regimen..did u read properly?
week 1 only aha glow and sebamed cleansing foam..u have to discontinue all the products in the sideline..starter regimen itself is a powerful regimen,u do not need anything..its a skin detox and eliminating acne causing products..
u have added too many products..the point of starter regimen is to bring acne under control with minimum products..
i know sebamed is mild cleanser hence u using himalaya neem facewash..sebamed is for when u barely have any application on your face so morning is suggested..
for now discontinue everything and use aha glow and sebamed only..nothing else along with it..and NO mask too!!
this should bring the breakout situation in control..then add suncote after few days..
if necessary at later stages u can try proactiv refining mask but not now…
starter regimen has helped me and many people here..
but u need follow properly and should not add products unnecessary..the point is to keep it minimum usage of products..else it will create a havoc on your skin..
keep it basic and simple only..
and no de pigmentation cream/carofit..if u use it now also there is no point cause new pimples keep popping up and leaving scars..so first discontinue everything u are using and stick to aha glow,sebamed..only after acne is under control u can start cpp regimen or treating scars..
follow this and get back to us after a week, then we will figure out what has to done further.. 🙂
Hi Sumit, what mixing liquid were you using for the home made paste? With Sebamed Cleansing Foam you really will not need to use any home remedies.
Any kind of home made masks are a very very weak treatment for acne or dark spots. Assuming that they don’t first break you out with something comedogenic.
I suspect it is either the mixing liquid (milk?) of the home made pack or Suncote Gel that’s causing the breakouts. I don’t think it is Sebamed because all this while you were also using the face pack along with Sebamed.
The rule of thumb is that if you add a new product to your regimen and you see increased breakouts, don’t add more products, but reduce products until the skin gets back to the original state. Then start adding products again.
In this case, you can find out the culprit product using an elimination technique. Assuming Sebamed was working fine for you, I’d say stick to using only that twice a day for a week. I mean no sunscreen, no moisturizer, nothing. No Himalaya face wash, AHAGlow, Carofit, Sebonac or Suncote.
Do this for a week at least, until you see a decided calming down of the skin. Then slowly add one product at a time. Let us know how it goes. You’re on the right track sir, just need to take it slowly. 🙂
Hi AM..these small packs of multani mitti, neem powder, amla powder etc easily available in supermarkets are loaded with chemicals..many years back i had used multani mitti with rose water,by the time i washed my face it broke me out..then i saw on the pack they add extra chemicals which are comedogenic..i have made these mistakes in the past..ditto with himalaya herbals and fabindia..lack of awareness about comedogenic ingredients/products is my fault too..
It makes sense what you say Tejupriya. Yes, it is possible that they are not selling 100% pure sandalwood powder etc. How is it even possible for so cheap anyway? They must be mixing something to get the volume up. Hm.. Sumit you know what to do.
Oops, I meant they are not selling 100%
AM these packs are less than 50 rupees, tell me these days u wont get half kilo beans only for 50 rupees and how can one get sandalwood ??
in my native my grandma use to grind the sandal wood paste, pure one so fragrant.. when i had rashes she used to apply that, very soothing too..
@AM and Tejupriya. Well when I said homemade, I literally meant homemade i.e. sandal wood paste I grind it out, mix ground neem powder made from the leaves that I had plucked from trees and turmeric powder from that small chunk of haldi. I never applied any commercially available product. As per the liquid it’s drinking water only. It’s as Tejupriya says since it’s soothing I apply it. But now that you have said not to, I will discontinue it, So for the next week my regimen is going to be somewhat like this:
1. Apply sebamed in the morning and aha glow in the evening. (or should I not apply this also because you have to apply both in one post and only sebamed in the other. :D)
One question is don’t I need to add suncote because as you have mentioned aha glow could irritate my skin and my work involves having lots of outdoor meetings, it could be a problem ?
So please if both of you could go through my script and suggest me to add or subtract something, then I can start working on a full movie release as soon as possible.
PS: I think milk is one of the culprits, because now that I think about it, the day I started eating cornflakes with milk (13th/14 th day), I had a breakout. Hence have stopped it altogether now. Let’s see.
Oops forgot to thank you all for the quick replies. Thank you. 😀
Sumit, the best way to thank us is to share your success / struggle story with the community. The second best way to thank us is to like us on Facebook. 🙂
I agree with your suspicions about milk (it could be something in the corn flakes too). This is usually not acknowledged because people don’t observe so closely, but I’ve noticed that there are food items that if consumed can in some people cause breakouts within hours.
My suggestion would be to stick to only Sebamed for a week. Wear a hat / helmet while outdoors. If you just can’t help it, maybe use Suncote.
Hi sumit if something is irritating your skin then no point using it right?plus adding too many products does no good..
Seriously i observed a lot of difference into weeks of starter regimen with minimum products..for months the breakouts were bothering me,i was surprised with starter regimen my breakouts reduced drastically..i honestly couldnt believe it myself..hence i stress on the point not to add or experiment with more products..after kerancynl cream i am so happy that my face is clear from two months..under cpp regimen marks have lightened like by 50-60%..everybody asks what have i been doing cause my face is clearing up..so follow the instructions properly mentioned in the starter regimen and you will see the results too..i am just one of those many people who achieved clear skin because of starter regimen..i have used sebamed ,its really good, mild yes but absolutely does what it says..it made a difference with acne..
So u have to start fresh now..use only sebamed..splash water if necessary to freshen up..week 2 u can add suncote ..until then just wear protective clothing like hoodie jackets, caps etc and remain in shade..
Ok then. Will put only sebamed cleanser in the morning and evening without suncote in the first week. Will give my first update on the situation after 3-4 days. Agey janne ke liye dekhte rahiye Kya Hoga Sumit ka. 😀
yup sure..agey sab bala hoga sumit ji,chinta chodijiye 😉
Hello AM and Tejupriya. Actually I forgot to ask one question. Due to the sudden breakout, I am having lots of red bumps on my head, which are painful to touch (I don’t know what kind of acne is this) They have also not formed any heads as such. Is there any way to get rid of them ? Or should I just stick to sebamed cleansing foam for now ?
Hi Sumit, I’d say just stick to Sebamed for now. It’s not irritating your skin or causing a burning sensation or anything, right?
No. But my forehead is covered with those red painful acne, and that entire area appears red.
Do you suspect Sebamed could be causing that?
sumit i really suspect your mask for this,u were leaving it overnight too..i would say since u have discontinued that, wait for few more days and use only sebamed atleast until the acne subsides..dont use any other product until then..and if u use hair oil,i would say put a hold on that too..
@AM. No i don’t think it’s the reason. I had a sudden breakout some 5-6 days back on my forehead and on my right cheek near the nose. Although the ones near my nose have subsided a bit, the ones on my forehead are still stubborn.
@Tejupriya. Yeah as per your advice I have not been using anything apart from sebamed. I was just wondering if anything is there to remove them in a quicker manner and that too safely. But don’t wanna experiment. 🙂
okay lets not aggravate it further..now give it time and with sebamed i think it should subside within few days..until be very careful not to use anything on your face including sunscreen..we can chalk out the regimen once under control..and do remember to wash ur hands first before wash ur face
