The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Face Wash has rave reviews on Flipkart.

Found 3 acne causing ingredients

Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is mildly comedogenic
Sodium Laureth Sulfate is mildly comedogenic
Tocopherol is mildly comedogenic

All 3 are only mildly comedogenic ingredients, which means this product is unlikely to cause pimples unless your skin breaks out very very easily.

As for effectiveness, it contains oils that are known to be effective for acne:

  1. Tea tree oil
  2. Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil which is tamanu oil, an effective anti-acne agent
  3. Castor oil – it is iffy for acne prone skin, as some say it helps, for others it clogs pores
  4. Lemon tea tree oil

Presence of skin irritants like alcohol and menthol are dampeners in an otherwise decent product. It is by no means all-herbal, as only the active ingredients are herbal, but the saving grace is the absence of parabens.

This tea tree cleanser is suitable for Acne Prone Skin Type 2 and maybe even Type 3. The price is higher than normal, but you’re getting 250 ml (that’s a quarter of a litre!) for about Rs. 600, so it will last many months.

Not all of The Body Shop Tea Tree Range is non-comedogenic or even useful for acne, but this cleanser seems good enough if you are a The Body Shop fan.
