Non-comedogenic alternative to AHAGlow?

0

Hi, I use Aha glow face wash (yellow pack) but it contains highly comedogenic Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. Please suggest purely NON COMEDOGENIC face wash (best of best available) for daily use. I get occasional pimple.

May be try Glomed.

But you must not neglect the fact that Ahaglkow face wash has some good ingredients like Aloe vera, Glycolic acid, Vitamin E in larger proportions than the SLS. so, you may continue with that.

Presence of 1 highly comedogenic ingredient from list of 10 ingredients doesn’t make a product highly comedogenic. Every product is mildly comedogenic.

Ok I get it, But between these two (AHA & Glomed)which one would you recommend (Considering daily use).

For initial use, Ahaglow will work good. It is overall a good product, plus it will work to build the tolerance towards Glycolic acid. Ahaglow is 1 % Glycolic acid whereas, Glomed is 5% Glycolic acid. (FYI, Keracnyl face wash is 4% Glycolic acid)

We need to go slow with Glycolic acid because of it’s over peeling and drying action.

Here you go. Read this to know more about Glycolic acid: Glycolic acid face wahes

Hiya Mohd Fahad, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate by itself is not comedogenic, not in the normal sense of the term. In my understanding, the way it can cause breakouts is by skin irritation. You see, it is a strong detergent – that is, it strips the skin of oils and whatever else, causing dryness and in sensitive skin, irritation.

Irritation is a significant cause of acne. So, although it does not “clog pores” per se, like coconut oil for example, if your skin is sensitive, it can cause breakouts due to irritation.

Not everyone has sensitive skin, that’s why you see so many people being okay with AHAGlow despite this “highly comedogenic” ingredient. It also matters that Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is pretty low on the ingredient list, toward the end, meaning that it is present in a small quantity. So irritation will be low.

People are reporting that Glomed is causing much less dryness than AHAGlow even though it is stronger in glycolic acid %.

Hi AM, just stopping by to say that I am not happy with Glomed. Used it couple of times but it did not suit me & caused small red patches all over. I’ve stopped it now. In fact it used it when I was travelling to a humid hot place & was not on retino but still it did not suit me. More than dryness, it left my skin kind of parched & red with minute under the skin rash kind of thing. This is the 2nd time I tried Glomed with no success. probably it’s just my skin. I’ve been very fine with AHA glow though.

Hiya @lalitha, redness and rash points to irritation, you were right to stop using it. The effects of Retino-A can last for weeks after you stop using it. So it is likely that Glomed was simply too much for your skin.

It will be very helpful to post these words on the reviews page of Glomed, if you could, please? The reviews on that page are written by people who are, looks like, not using any strong acne treatments apart from it. AHAglow is your friend then. 🙂

If you have not many active pimples, then Himalaya Deep Cleansing Apricot Face Wash (Old name-HIMALAYA GENTLE EXFOLIATING FACE WASH) will be the best alternative!

It will be less irritating too.

If you have tipped acne, then use it with care. Apply on face, only after rubbing it in hands. 🙂

Yes, I don’t have any active pimple but occasionally I get it (reason being when i don’t wash my face for days 🙂 ) and I also have or get white heads on my nose (reason again the same)

And yes I read your full post about HDCAFC appreciate your efforts and I am planning to buy it.
