Hi everyone, I am getting married in 2 months. Blessed with very good skin, but have some old acne red marks on chin (5-6) and 1 on cheek. I have been suggested chemical peeling by doctor but dont want to get it done. Can anyone suggest any OTC products? I will use regularly and be satisfied with the result I get in 2 months.
At present I am using AHAglow facewash once a day, Cetaphil cleansing lotion once a day. Cream is Glyco 6 at night. Morning sunscreen.
Anyone had result with kojic acid products? People online saying Clearz Plus by Dr Reddys is good. I dont want to use hydroquinone so I am thinking of kojic acid.
Thanks Acne Mantra for the wonderful website. It is surely going to be most popular site in India for skin issues.
This is besides the point but- any tips for freckles? How is Elovera cream. Thanks. Please reply soon.
hi firstly congrats on ur wedding..ur regimen sounds fine..chemical peeling is a good option for u considering ur problem areas..also there is time constraint of two months..also chemical is effective result wise and quicker than topical applications..in two months u can max have 4 sittings..also in parallel u add kaya pigmentation reducer for scars..please do not rush and actin haste specially when u are wedding is approaching fast..do not damage ur skin further by taking risks..cetaphil is fine but i would really suggest sebamed cleansing foam..along with aha glow it pretty good..also have a look at CPP regimen on acnemantra, will give u better idea about treating scars and product suggestions..hope ur skin clears soon..please take care!!
Hi Tejupriya, can you share link for CPP regimen? I cant find it. I dont want chemical peeling as family is not allowing. So I want OTC product suggestion.
Kaya pigmentation reducer- can you give exact name and cost? I dont normally get pimples so is it ok to use sebamed?
Thanks. Please reply soon.
Hi.. u are right kojic acid creams with vit c are the best to lighten marks… Kojimax has the highest percent of kojic acid tats 5% +vit c 10%.. M using this now n it really helps.. And since u r already using glyco 6 at night which is very good, u can apply glyco 6 all over n kojimax or clearz pluz on marks.. use very thin layer… U should be able to see good improvement in 2 months.. U can use Elovera IMF instead of Elovera.. It has lactic acid(which is aha so it will help again with lightening of ur marks), hyaluronic acid, allantoin along with aloevera and vit E which are the contents of the Elovera.. But these creams are good if u are not easily prone to breakouts.. All the best! 🙂
pankhuri sebamed cleansing foam is perfect maintenance for acne..
otherwise u can use aha glow twice a day..
kaya pigmentation reducer is gel based, easily to apply and definitely effective..
its contains lactic Acid, Niacinamide which are lightening agents..i suppose u should get good improvements in a month if it is very severe..
chemical peeling is ruled out option..
there is link for kaya pigmentation reducer…
its 500rupees for 25ml..
im using that i am satisfied and plus no irritation..
its a suggestion,u can give a shot at this..
there is the link for cpp..
anyway since it is ur marriage i suggest u do not take risks thats it..hope this helps..
Also i forgot to add mederma, hexilac also helps..they are gel forns, easiy available abd wont cause any breakout..
If u are keen on kojic acid products i have used de melan which contains kojic acid, glycolic acid, alpa arbutin..all are lightening agents..wont cause any breakout..its a cream base,do a patch test..currently im using kaya and im happy..adding too many products is a bad idea..
Hi Anamika, thanks for your response and apologies for replying late. I was out of town with no internet access.
With regard to Kojimax, does it have any other ingredient, as I could not find it online. Does it have hydroquinone? Also, is 5% kojic acid safe to use as i have heard 2% is max you can apply. That’s why I dont want to use any cream (like Fab India de pigmentation cream) that does not display concentration of kojic acid. Please let me know. Did you see good result with Kojimax?
Elovera IMF- Thanks for the wonderful suggestion. My skin is not acne prone, except for the rare occasional pimple once in a few months, but i get pimple on chin sometimes. I will buy it. I use elovera at night and it is helping skin so IMF will be better.
Hi Tejupriya, thanks for your response and apologies for replying late. I was out of town with no internet access. I have some questions for you:
a. Kaya pigmentation reducer- Thanks for sharing this with me. My concern is if it has hydroquinone or arbutin. Since I read that arbutin gets metabolised to hydroquinone in body, I am scared to use. Also, website link says it has the following ingredients- Aqua, Lactic Acid, Niacinamide, Propylene Glycol, Perfume. Can you confirm if it has other ingredients? My complexion is very fair, will it suit? In how long you saw results? My acne marks are pink.
b. Demelan- As explained above, my concern is arbutin. Please share any info you have about its safety.
c. CPP- This is genius! I have book marked the link . You guys are amazing. So for correct it is glyco 6, prevent it is which one? Any review of elovera IMF as Anamika suggested above?
Please reply soon. Thanks, you guys are the best. Helping so many like me.
Fab India De-pigmentation cream has broken out many people, it is pretty comedogenic.
Acnemantra- Then what do you feel I should use to prevent as per the CPP regimen? For fastest results.
Hi Pankhuri, Kaya Pigmentation Reducer would be my pick. It does not have hydroquinone. These days rarely any over the counter products contain hydroquinone because of its reputation.
As far as I understand, Kaya Pigmen. Red. does not contain arbutin, it is not listed in the active ingredients. Tejupriya is using it without problems. Maybe she can tell you about the ingredients more.
Hi Pankhuri, Kojimax does not have hydroquinine but has 1% arbutin which does not have side effects that hydroquinone has and is used as an alternative hydroquinone coz its more faster in terms of effectiveness n also safer.. Also this was prescribed by a dermat.. If u r concerned about the high dose of Kojic acid in Kojimax, u can opt for Clearz plus which is 2% kojic acid+ 2.5% vit c.. I hv used both.. Since i didnt get gd results with clearz plus, i switched over to Kojimax.. I also used it one some terribly dark marks i had developed due to allergy on my back n within 15 days they lightened considerably.. That tells how effective it is.. But u have to use it sparinly n do not forget to apply a broad spectrum sunscreen during the day otherwise any of these creams will do more harm than good.. The best thing is u r already using glyco 6 n any of these creams can be applied over it.. Now coming to Elovera IMF, I came to know about this cream through one of acne mantra’s post n i started using it whenever i feel my skin gets dry n it really helps.. But i wonder how u r going to apply glyco 6+ whichever lightening cream u choose and elovera imf together.. may be u can use them alternate nights..
Pankhuri firstly please do not use fab india pigmentation cream..it does have kojic acid but it contains highly comedogenic ingredients like isopropyl mystrate isopropyl palmitate..my face was clear i did a stupid mistake of using this and it damaged my skin very badly..im following starter and cpp regimen for this..it was the biggest mistake i did..
If u are hesitant about arbutin not a issue, they are lightening ingredient only..
U can skip de melan and try mederma or hexilac..i have used both, pretty effective again gel base and safe..I faced no problem with de melan..tye thing is i do not want to add products unnecessarily since im following regimen and its working..
Kaya pigmentation reducer does not contain arbutin..it only contains those ingredients mentioned in the link and back of the tube..u need 15-20days to see marks fading initially..lactic acid and niacinamide are the lightening ingredints here..
Elovera sorry i do not know anything..
Hi AcneMantra, Tejupriya and Anamika,
Please note the regimen I am following from a week :
1. Morning- Wash face with AHAglow, apply Clearz cream (not Clearz Plus)- I am working from home and dont go outside the house.
2. Before evening walk- Wash my face, apply Lacto Calamine
3. Night- Wash with Cetaphil Cleansing lotion, apply Glyco 6 on marks only, apply Elovera on rest of the face.
Please provide your inputs and suggestions for the fastest way to clear marks / alteration to my regimen. I am looking for a place to upload face pics but not able to get an option. To describe my current situation, 2 light marks near nose, one on cheek in the place one gets a dimple, 5 tiny marks on chin.
pankhuri it sounds fine to me..
but consider adding a sunscreen..
with cpp regimen u alternate glyco 6 and kaya nourishing night cream(azelaic acid is lightening ingredient) at nights..then it will be complete..think about it..
Hi Pankhuri, from ur first post it seemed like u r using glyco 6 as a night cream all over ur face.. But even if u r indoors, applying sunscreen is a must as the uv rays penetrate through the windows also on the cloudy days… so please do not skip sunscreen.. And with whatever lightening/exfoliating creams u use be it glyco 6 or anything else that u may add from the creams mentioned above, it is more than important to use a sunscreen so that u can reap results out of them..
Hi Tejupriya, thanks for your inputs. Please share your experience using Kaya Pigmentation Reducer as I’m planning to buy it. Will it make a difference? How would you rate it against Clearz cream? Your imputs would be very helpful.
Hi Anamika, noted. I will buy the Lotus sunscreen and use it after I use Clearz in the afternoon (i.e first put clearz then apply lotus) I hope it wont be too heavy for my skin. Please advise.
Anamika, please could you share Elovera IMF’s ingredients with me. The company, cost etc as I need to tell my chemist about it. Also, share your experience using it.
