Gentle Moisturizing Under Eye Cream for dryness/dark circles – Sebamed under eye gel – reviews here?

1

Hi AM, Rajeev & Others – Do you know of a good non comedogenic under eye cream I can use alongside Tretinoin (0.025) for dryness under the eyes. Since the time I started with Retino, for the past one week, I am seeing crusty line under the lower eyelid & at the corners. I’ve been applying Sebamed Clear gel but it’s still very dry & actually painful. I can feel a dry line under my lower lid & I kind of find it very dry & irritating. They’ve also become dark. Rajeev had mentioned some under eye – Kojiglow or something that he said could be used under the eye as well?

Any feedback from you Rajeev on this or other options to make this area smooth & irritation free? Also Is Sebamed Under eye cream good? does it show any results at all? any pointers to other eye creams that would combat dryness with lightening would greatly help!

Hello ld,periorbital melanosis or dark circles are caused by various factors.
1)chronin diseases like iron deficiency,thyroid disorder,atopy.
2)heredity factors and localised factors-thin under skin along with micro leaks of blood through underlying fine blood vessels.
3)life style factors -long working hours,use of laptops,vision strain,stress,anxiety.
other factors like liver disease, allergies, and age factor.
DARK CIRCLES CAN BE TREATED BY RESOLVING THE UNDERLYING CAUSE i mentioned above
1)get ur haemoglobin level checked and if it is below 12 then take tab fersolate CM once a day till u acheive level of 12 or above.
2)take dietory supplement like grape food extract and pycnogenol which contain antioxditants pigment that could strengthen blood vessels .u can take derantox tab once a day for this purpose.
3)vitamin c helps to strenghten blood vessel walls.so,try to take a lot of vitamin c containing foods .u may take limcee 500 mg twice a day for this purpose.
4)try to maintain ur sleeping pattern and get at least 8 hours of sleep.
apart from above recommendations eat a lot of vegetables and fruits which are red and yellow in colour like apple, tomato etc.take one lemon juice everyday take for 5 days continuosely and then stop for 2 days .use it like this.drink an ample amount of water to kee ur skin hydrated.
get the liver functions test done if needed.
Topically, u can use creams containing vitamin c ,vitamin e,kojic acid and azelaic acid .As i already suggested u can use kojiglow gel(kojic acid arbutin) as well as kojivit gel(kojic acid arbutin vitamin e)as an under eye cream at night .use it in a minimum quantity.
apart from pharmacy products my pick is amways artistry range under eye cream.it is non comedogenic and hypoallergenic.i have personally use it in the past.it is very effective.Budeget cream – himalaya herbals under eye cream although it has wheatgerm oil but because of the fact that under eye skin is very thin and not enough active oil glands like rest of the face it may work and works as an excellent uv protector.u can give it a try too.
now coming back to ur point i think u might have used retino a near eye contour area or used glycolic acid /saliycilic acid face was near eye contour area.i suggest u to use cetaphil cleansing lotion and cetaphil moisturiser to combat this dryness at least on under eye skin.till the conditon is improved.try to avoid using retino a ,glyco acid and saliycilic acid products in eye contour area to prevent it in future.

HI LD,i also have problem of dark circle ,i use many cream gels in past, they never go but they light at time , now i am using wunder eye cream its good cream for eye and also in morning when i am free i apply kojiglow gel only 2 or 3 day in week because on kojiglow applying under eye has mix review some good and some bad,i have read many articles on it and conclusion for dark circle u have to apply a cream with retinol and vit k ,but this mix is not in india i am trying to buy a cream with it,,but in other countries they have gels with this formula ,and pls never use retin a or other strong creams under eyes .eyes are very delicate so use only eye cream or gel in eye area they are in low concentration and good .also iron capsulse help .sebamed eye cream is also good for wrinkles ,when u use any retinol eye cream then sunscreen is must or there are bad effects like more darken of eye, sleep 8 hrs.neutrogena also has eye cream with retinol and i will try it after wunder eye cream if it will not help.if u have acne prone skin then u cant use aroma magic under eye gel because it has almond oil and not good for acne i use it for 2 days and there are white pimples near my eye so use cream or gel with retinol and vit k,if u find one tell me

Hi LD, so it looks like the main under-eye problem is this temporary dryness and wrinkling from Retino-A.

I had read up about Sebamed Co-Q10 under eye cream when I was looking for one, and even though I can’t point out the exact features, it did sound like one of the best eye creams in the market. But it does have shea butter, avocado and almond oils, all of which are very prone to travelling to the cheeks.

I would not use anything that can exfoliate the area further at this time. So anything retinol based could aggravate the problem.

A simple, moisturizing eye cream is Clinique All About Eyes (not the rich all about eyes, just the regular one). I’ve used it and although it won’t do wonders, it does keep the under eye area smooth and moisturized. If I had to pick one in the present situation, this is what I would choose for now. Later, maybe Neutrogena anti-wrinkle eye cream.

Hi Am, Rajeev & Jassi, thank you so much for all your suggestions. Just one thing – this problem I mentioned is kind of a temporary thing & started only after my tretinoin use. I am in the 7th week of Retino A & this dryness started couple of days back. The skin below my eyes started to sting & became quite painful even if I just touched it.

The stinging & dry crusty line became quite bad since 2 days & hence wanted your inputs.  Since I did not have any eyecream or moisturizer handy, I found one solution though & it worked like a charm. I applied Neosporin yesterday night, a  very tiny bit  smoothened under the eyes & today morning ! – the stinging is gone by 85% almost. The irritation is gone & the area is smooth once again. Ah the relief now!!

But once the area gets normal, I will certainly try one of the options mentioned. Rajeev – In your opinion is Kojiglow better or Kojivit better?  I am not very fond of vitamin c products as they tend to cause breakouts in my skin.

Am- I thought I could use Kojiglow or Kojivit instead of Clinique as it can also double up as skin lightener? Is it ok or do you think it might further irritate my skin that is already getting drier by the day? Clinique is too expensive , that’s why!

Hi LD, this scaling, dryness etc. is known to happen with retinoid based products. You’re going to be fine. 🙂

Kojiglow, Kojivit also sound fine, although check by applying on another part of the face first for any irritation, just in case. Clinique All About Eyes is a basic moisturizing eye cream but isn’t as strong as Kojic solutions. You could still get Kojic acid stuff. Just in case it isn’t right for the under-eye you could always use it up on the face or body.

You are the high end brand expert here, you don’t talk about expenses. 🙂

Hi Jassi, thanks for your help. However I have to admit, I am getting a little concerned over your use of too many products. Why don’t you cut back to just one eye cream & don’t experiment with too much. If that Wunder eye cream works for you, why are you using Kojiglow? Isn’t it better to stick to just one thing that works for you? Just my 2 cents, coz we have all learned the hard way 🙂

AM- I’ve literally stopped all high end brands except for foundation which I think makes sense to buy a good one. I just realized that pharma products work way better than all these expensive ones ( Triacneal, Bioderma Included). I’ve never somehow ever bought an eye cream for myself & to waste so much money on that teeny area really seems colossal damage to me 🙂

For instance – Bioderma Night serum really lightens the skin ( It indeed does within 4 to 5 days) but the Vit C in it is not suiting me as I saw some redness & tiny under the skin bumps after about 5 days of it’s use. This reaction when I was only using it for an hour everyday!! How much can I experiment like this? I’ve put a hold on it right now. So I’ve decided that I would only splurge on cosmetics vis a vis – foundation (that can really make or break your face) , primer & bronzer. rest all are the same eggs in the basket 🙂 Hope I am not too wrong!

i always use eye cream or gel for minimum 2 month and max 4 month and see effect , if its effective or not,now i use wunder and kojiglow for 2 or 4 month and see it effective or not,, one thing important i have very dark circle so i am using kojiglow because i know that only eye cream will be no sufficient for me ,that why i use kojic acid under my eyes because its good for lightning and i hope it will effect on my dark circle ,

and ld i dont know about foundation or girl stuff like bronzer, primer ,concealer,,Bioderma Night serum gave u bump why what are other product u r using with it , if u r using any other treatment cream like triacneal then u have to stop it and use only bioderma serum ,try not to alternate it with other treatment cream, what is the condition of ur dark circle are they light or dark very dark ,

Hi Jassi – I want to echo Lalitha’s comments….I too agree with her that looks like you are using/experimenting too many products at the same time. Keep the list short.

kya kar rahe ho paaji… thoda aaram se 🙂

Ld,a lot to things to be said.however,i keep it short right now since i am very busy now.answer, stop using anything for at least for 15 days i ur eye contour area let it be healed first.once healed and normal u can use kojiglo (because of allantoin) in ur eye contour area at night.

Hello AM,

Plz suggest me a good cream without side effects and effective for dark circles due to stress, Kojiglow or Aromas Magic under Eye Gel, or Himalaya Under eye cream.  Also my dark cirles are very less not deep and excess. Thanks in advance… 🙂

Hiya @divya123, Aroma Magic Under Eye Gel, Himalaya Under Eye Cream and Sebamed Co Q10 eye creams are largely ineffective in treating undereye circles. I’m currently using Sebamed. Ethicare Liftage eye cream and Wunder eye cream (both at medical stores) are recommended by the community folk for mild-moderate under-eye circles.
