How is Sebonac Gel working for you?

0

Hi guys, just wanted to catch up on Seboanc gel. 😀

Are you seeing any redness from using it sparingly?

Do you think it is a good spot treatment?

Are you using it all over your acne prone areas?

Sebonac is a powerful treatment, but if you are experiencing any problems I could add alternatives or further explanation about using it.

Great this is exactly what I wanted. Need it so much that I am typing this in office.

Well at first I used sebonac pretty exorbitantly. Thus got all red bumps and experienced redness all over. After discussion with Tejupriya decreased the usage to every alternate day. One day I used sebonac while the other I applied aloe vera gel from leaves. I guess it helped. The aloe vera gel had a kind of soothing effect I believe. I did this for around 7 days or so.  Although I think that it did not stop further pimples (still kept getting those odd ones especially on the forehead) , but this helped me in atleast controlling the breakouts to a certain extent.

So after 7 days I thought I could increase the dosage and thus applied it without any aloe vera gel. All hell broke loose yet again. The area became red and bumpy. I suddenly had 4 major & big eruptions on my face with angry red areas. To stop them I tried sebonac as a spot treatment but it didn’t help as much as it did before. One of them formed a big boil kind of thing and while washing away with sebamed the cover/outer layer came off. Thus it has now left an extremely angry and painful/burning red mark on the face.

Don’t know what to do now. If you could guide me in the same, then would be a great help. Is there something that I should add along with sebonac ?

For your sensitive skin, Sumit, I guess it best to dilute Sebonac with aloe vera for every use. It seems to be working since you noticed a reduction in breakouts. You were doing well on Sebamed Cleansing Foam + Kaya Cleansing Gel earlier. Maybe cut out Sebonac from your regimen, you probably don’t need it.

Since your skin is not yet clear, there could be other factors too. Are you still consuming dairy products? Your pimples are small, red and spanning across the forehead etc.? I suspect that the culprit in your case is some kind of food intolerance.

Salicylic acid products can bring pimples to a white head which is what you noticed. It will be best looked at by a dermatologist.

Hi am, I don’t know about Sebonac but the general trend I’ve seen for my skin is that Salicylic acid does not suit me! I’ve used Sal acid in various forms & brands but have always found that contrary to it’s reputation , it always gives me bumps or I would suddenly see a huge pimple couple of days into the regimen, the same with Sal peels as well, it does nothing for my skin. even the paula’s choice BHA liquid & Resist BHA gave me some breakouts & intense irritation. May be it’s just my skin, so personally for me, I would avoid Salicylic acid in general for my skin. I know it’s not related to your question but I just want to jot down my experience here.

Sumit – do you feel the same way or it’s a different kind of reaction you see on your skin?

Hi AM

As you may be aware I suffer from mild to moderate acne ( during those days of the month) so I mostly follow the basic regime. My skin is clear for around 7-8 days and then it breaks out but it is under control when I use clean & clear balancing lotion as a treatment. However I have written earlier how an impulse to use a sulphur based product to reduce oiliness prompted me to buy acne aid which brought me misfortune in the form of cystic acne on my cheeks and bumps on my forehead 🙁 though I stopped using it almost immediately but I needed a treatment gel to reduce scarring on my cheeks. So I decided to finally use sebonac gel as advised previously. Today is my third day and I can’t seem to put in on my face for more than 20 mins. I have used it on alternate days only but my skin gets really red and it starts stinging. It is not unbearable but I feel my skin might go haywire if I let it stay any longer than that. I have now read in the above posts to use it with aloe vera gel so I guess I have to give it a shot. But the instruction label inside the carton mentions cases of drug interactions so I am not how my skin will react to the mixture 🙁

Please help I’m in a big soup

Hi L..How are you?
CnC has stearic acid, you probably broke out because of that..
Regarding Sebonac, buffer it with aloe vera gel and apply and wash it after one hour..Start with lower concentration and low frequency..

i also used sebonac before keracnyl cream, it was good gel but its slow than banzac but good than benzac

Hey Tejupriya

I’m great thank you! How are you doing? 🙂 It is funny how stearic acid has been following me since last week 😛 But if C&C balancing lotion was in fact comedogenic, i wonder why it still features in many posts on acne mantra! :O Probably it suits people with APST 2 🙂 anyway so I’m buying an aloe vera gel now 🙂 I would like to share my skin regime please let me know if i’m going wrong. I spend a good 10 days last month without a significant breakout now i’m back in semi hell 🙁 I somehow am more interested in treating my acne from within so i generally focus on supplements and yoga but clear skin is not on the cards yet. Fingers crossed 🙂

Mornings:

Sebamed cleansing foam+sebamed clear gel+Suncote

Afternoon:

Wash my face with plain water and reapply suncote as i’m out in the sun quite a lot and my face gets greasy in the sun and added humidity.

Evenings:

Kaya Soothing Cleansing gel+Sebamed clear gel+Sebonac (spot treatment since last two days for 20 mins)

Supplements:

Zevit- 1 tab daily

Omega 3: 1-2 tab daily

Liv 52: 1 tab twice daily

Blood vigour- 1 tsp thrice daily after meals ( my ayurvedic doc had long prescribed this blood purifier dunno how effective it is/was)

You may have noticed i haven’t introduced a CPP regime yet as somehow i waiting for my skin to clear up 🙁

Hi L..I am doing good..I using CnC from 4 months, initially that is what bought my occasional breakouts under control..Thats when I realised Salicylic acid products work me,introduces saslic, keracnyl cream..Currently undergoing Salicylic peel as well..Yes CnC works for mild acne/apst1-2..
If CnC is not suiting you, then chuck it cause salicylic does not suit everyone..
If Sebonac is not suiting you, Try Keracnyl cream which has glycolic acid ,salicylic acid, lactic acid..This will works for acne as well as scars..
Routine sounds fine..
You might wanna check on the supplements..Did the Doc prescribe you or self medication?Cause some supplements aggravate acne..
Zevit is vitamin B capsule…Any specific reason behind so many supplements?

I am consuming omega 3 since I do not consume oil/fats as such so it makes up for my body’s need of daily intake of essential fats. I read about zinc and its benefit on reducing skin’s oiliness and hence comes zevit. Then comes the blood purifier as told earlier it was prescribed by my doc. As for Liv 52, well my doc almost always prescribed it for me since I was a kid 🙂 i have it on and off. Do you reckon I should cut down on some?

Also C&C has worked for me before. You know I applied it on a few spots before going to bed last night and the swelling and redness has reduced by 30% 🙂 I feel the excessive redness and swelling last night was from sebonac gel 🙁 not too sure.  I had asked around for saslic but couldn’t locate it a local chemist’s. Yes i’m aware you got positive results with keracnyl 🙂 congratulations to you 🙂 But the issue is since i’m out in the sun during most hours of the day, is it recommended to use strong exfoliating treatments as keracnyl/triacneal? The starter’s regime almost prohibits sun exposure in the first week 🙁 this is only reason i’m staying away from both 🙁 I regularly use suncote though. Can you help?

Hi L..Thank you for your wishes..:)
Pick one either CnC or Sebonac, since both have salicylic might be irritating you..Since you saying CnC,stick to it for a while..
My advice on the supplements, too many things happening so discontinue for few days and figure out if it is still causing breakouts including liv 52 for few days..I suspect this is the culprit..
Zevit is vitamin b supplement If I am not wrong..
Which blood purifier are you talking about?
Plus you have mild acne, you might just require all of this at all unless you are deficient in something, otherwise it is just overload on the body system and toxin level just builds up in the body and not to forget the fact some can aggravate your acne..
I would say simply your routine with a facewash, acne cream, moisturizer, sunscreen thats all..
Why dont try Keracnyl regimen it works for mild/moderate acne?
Works well for me,I do not have acne now..
It is very important to keep your regimen simple and clean with minimum products..

Hi Sks..Its possible Lotus might not be suiting, try switching to Suncote,a relatively safer bet for acne prone skin..
After this you still continue to get breakouts,it could be sebonac gel..
How are you using?
Mix with a oil free moisturizer or aloe vera gel and apply it on face..Initially leave it on for an hour or so and wash it off..
Do this few days and gradually you can increase the duration and make it alternate nights..Always start with low concentration and frequency..

OK tejupriya. I will get off supplements asap then 🙁 but you reckon it is OK to use kernycl when I am exposed to sun say for 4-5 hours? Will that aggravate my acne? Zevit is both vit b and zinc with other combinations but I was consuming it for the zinc component.

BTW this is something off context can I just call you TJ in lin with AM? Tejupriya somehow is a long name to type 😉

Hehe Dear L,call me as you like..
If sun exposure is inevitable then Suncote..
Use Keracnyl facewash once a day for a week..So that your skin gets used to this..
Evening I think you have himalaya neem facewash, use that..
If you see dryness add a oil free moisturizer..
From Week 2,add Keracnyl cream and make it alternate nights..
This way trying to minimising the side effects ..
Put a hold on supplements now,and make it a point not to add anything else in the routine..
You can add sebamed cleansing foam if possible..

Dear TJ

Well i already bought aloe vera and it has been delivered today. Have diluted sebonac with it and fingers crossed now. Since i have started using sebonac, today being my 3 rd i think i should stick to one treatment to see if it works or not. Guess will know by the end of two weeks 🙂

Also I am using kaya soothing gel and sebamed foam now and they don’t seem to dry my skin up. So i was thinking i should wait for the tubes to finish until i decide to switch to himalaya 🙂 What do you say?  Btw I have cut down on liv 52 and blood purifier as advised.

Thanks for your help TJ. Where would i be without you 🙂

Hi Dear L,Anytime for you Sweety 🙂
Stick to Kaya and Sebamed cleansers, safe bets when compared to Himalaya..
Good to know you have cut down on Zevit and all..
Buffering sebonac with aloe vera should do the work..
Leave it for an hour and wash off..
Good Luck Hun’ and keep me posted 😉

I think, we have not found any good spot treatment solution for acne that is still coming out even after following the regimen correctly. Topical antibiotics like Clindamycin have stopped working on our skin due to excessive use in the past, Benzoyl peroxide causes red scars that don’t heal for a long time, and Salicylic acid based sebonac is not suiting everybody.

I am also getting a new pimple today on my cheek, don’t know what to do about it. I have not changed anything in my routine, have not used any new product, have not eaten anything excessively oily/sweet – but still one pimple is threatening to come out 🙁

I already have clinoxid (clindamycin+BP) and epiduo (adaplene + BP), but seeing my old scars after using these gels, i don’t want to apply them anymore. I guess, i will go and buy sebonac for spot treatment since i have not tried salicylic acid based treatments (apart from keracnyl). I just hope this one calms down faster.

How do i use sebonac?and what is differnce between sebonac and kojivit

0

@acnemantra hi AM, I have been using sebonac gel since JAN 2014, I have finished an entire tube and already on a second one which is half finished. Due to the problem of its availability I had to wait for around 15 days till I got the second one.

So far my experience: First of all I love it!! Sebonac is bit slow but it is as you had described in budget regimen column. It’s a wonder product!! I dont know if it is just with sebonac or with all those face washes and bit more consciousness towards skin care. But my skin started to glow and it has become fairer. At first I used to apply tiny amount on my face, it was bit sticky but that was ok. Now I massage it on my face till it is completely absorbed before going to bed and apply kojivit on marks(another slow but effective product) after massage it doesnt feel sticky. My skin is considerably plumpy and soft the next morning. Thankfully it never irritated me with excessive redness,  so I never had to mix it with aloe vera gel. I kept patience till my facial skin accepted it. Initially for say a week it did give some tiny and some big under skin bumps . I dealt them with metrogyl plus(I use it even now for emergency)

Problem is as I said earlier it is bit slow like reallllly slow you have to wait for a long time to see the results. and the second thing is I am not sure how long I have to use it. Because when I couldnt use it for those 15 days I suffered from acne all over again. So not so sure if it is a permanent solution!!

It wont work as a spot treatment at all it makes a big pimple even bigger and prominent!! so not good even for big cystic pimples. It reduced  my pimples to a VERYYYY great extent that’s true but for the bigger bombs you have to buy some other spot treatment product.

Pros: effective, makes skin supple, works on small red pimples(can make them disapper without leaving marks if used properly)

cons: slow results(say 2-3 weeks to start  noticing difference), availability , definitely not for big fat cystic pimples and spot treatment!!

I hope this is helpful 🙂
