Is Maybelline Cheeky Glow blush non-comedogenic? Also, if I wanna cover my acne with a concealer, should I get one of a shade darker than my skin tone or of the same one?
Best to use a concealer of your own skin tone. I’ve heard someone recommending covering dark circles with concealer maybe ONE shade deeper than your own, and then puttng powder on t.
But for its on the face, same colour. Match as closely as possible.
As for Maybelline cheeky glow, I am using it and it hasn’t hurt so far – it is not long lasting and it is very light. But no ingredients, so I have no real idea.
As @rohini said. Plus, if you want to use a concealer, instead of a darker or lighter shade – I’d look for a different colour tone based on what I want to conceal. Concealers with a salmon tone work better to cancel out the purple under-eye darkness. For acne, I’d look for concealers with a green tinge. Green on the colour wheel cancels out red – so you’d not only cover the spot, but also cancel out the redness to a large degree with minimal product. Hit the search box for some concealer options and discussions.
Hey! Thanks 🙂
I searched for green concealer, but unfortunately there are VERY few available in India. There’s NYX (online) which hasnt gotten good reviews, and then there’s Oriflame (Pure Nature Organic Tea Tree & Rosemary Purifying Corrective Stick), but to be honest, I don’t have a lot of faith in Oriflame. Can you temme how it fares in being an acne skin cosmetic? Cuz it’s pretty affordable. Toh if it’s nice, I’ll probably buy that.
Annnd a request, can you do a post on green concealers?
Thhhaanks 🙂 X
Hi Manju, yes, it is tough to find a good quality green concealer. The Oriflame one sounds okay. The review here shows all the details about it, so maybe check it out: http://beautyinurhands.blogspot.in/2013/07/oriflame-pure-nature-organic-tea-tree.html
Like you, I’m also a bit skeptical about the quality of Oriflame but mainly because I do not have much experience with them. I also wonder if their concealer shades are brown enough to suit Indian skin tones.
Another thing would be to check out MAC and Clinique concealers. For drugstore options, just hit search on the right side.
Revlon photoready concealer is forever out of stock. 😐 Toh I’ve zeroed in on Rimmel London Matte Dual. The one with green in it. Just gotta find stores selling ’em in Hyd. Will probably get it in a week or two. 🙂
Hey Manju, Dont get oriflame concealers. They usually dont match with the skin tone. Selecting a shade just from checking out a catalogue wont help many a times and we end up choosing a wrong shade. I have 3- concealers from oriflame and none conceals my dark circles properly. Iam currently using MAC concealer. There are many shades available in mac. Mac is in gvk mall here in hyd. Do check ’em out. Make sure you are chosing the right shade, test it on ur skin where you wanna conceal as getting a wrong shade may be a hole in the pocket coz they are bit expensive. Do check with the skingridients tool before buying to eliminate the comedogenic stuff.
When it comes to concealers – you cannot select from any catalogue. If you have the budget, go straight to MAC and try out the pot concealers. They will cost Rs.1300 per pot. Though it seems small, it will last a long time. The one for acne scars on the cheeks, where the skin is lighter – you will have to find an exact match. For under eyes, the shade might be a bit different – so you might have to buy two concealers (like i have) – if i use the acne scar concealer under the eyes – they look horrible with a whitish cast. But when i use one shade darker which is in yellow undertones, then my eyes look totally natural.
Also, take two days to buy. One day, just try out the shade on all the spots on your face and eyes and leave the store. Check yourself out in mirrors with different lights. Buy on your next visit only if you are satisfied. If you get the concealer right, you won’t need any other major makeup product. Just concealer and powder would be enough.
I agree that MAC sounds pretty good. But I am a college student and 1300 is kinda heavy on my pocket. The moisturizers, sunscreens etc I am using are pretty expensive. I was thinking Rimmel London Stay Dual Matte Action action. 🙂 Has anyone tried it so far?
