Hi @acnemantra – my 1200mg nature’s bounty odorless fish oil is almost over and it is out of stock in all the web stores. Can you suggest another alternative that i can order with hopefully similar concentration and effectiveness? Healthkart has a few other options but i am not sure which one to choose. Please help.
Anuja, I remember seeing this fish oil at nykaa.com too. Maybe check there until I figure out an alternative.
I had ordered at Nykaa – online payment – they called after two days and said that it is out of stock and they are refunding my money – there’s some problem with the website – and they are unable to mark it out of stock. It is available on ebay, but i am not sure of the authenticity.
This had happened to me too earlier, with another product. Nykaa.com showed it in stock but actually it wasn’t. Hang in there, let me look for alternatives.
Is the fish oil effective ? will it reduce acne ?
I`ve read AM`s post on it – but I`d still like an opinion from @anujaaggarwal …
I cannot comment about its effectiveness in curing acne because a major change in my skin happened only after i started Vit d3 and GA 12% – but i surely notice glowing and soft skin when i am using Fish oil. Overall, the combination of these three things is working wonders for me and so, i don’t want to change anything!
Sevenseas codliver oil is the only thing thats available everywhere but i suppose its not an equivalent?
Using fish oil while on vitamin D3 supplementation can help keep the skin from drying out too much. Sachets of 60000 IU of vitamin D3 can make your skin so dry all over that it can start flaking off. Adding fish oil or a good multivitamin helps to keep the skin moist from within and that’s why the ‘glow’ as well. So if not for acne, it is at least helping keep your skin from excessive dryness.
I’ve still not got around to finding an alternative to Vitamin Shoppe fish oil because I’m drowning in work as we speak. I want to find the best alternative and that may take a couple days for me to get down to it, but don’t hesitate from reminding me through a public message. 🙂
Hi @acnemantra – the fish oil came in stock on healthkart so I ordered one pack quickly. Yay – fastest fingers first!!
What about this option:
Or this one has D3 also:
Natrol Fish Oil & Vitamin – D3 1000 mg, 90 softgels
I do not understand the difference in concentration of Omega 3 among these three contenders – can you help?
Sorry about the big font – I copy-pasted and somehow it came out larger than the rest!!
Isn’t Seven Seas Pure Cod Liver Oil a good and poket friendly option?
I find Natrol Fish Oil & Vitamin – D3 1000 mg also something which needs attention.
@rohit_r the amount of EPA and DHA which are the meat and potatoes of fish oil / cod liver oil isn’t enough in Seven Seas Pure Cod Liver Oil. It looks like they are in the 40 mg range, which is not nearly enough to fulfill the daily EPA / DHA requirements. They may be okay for someone who is generally healthy, but if there is chronic inflammation in the body in the form of acne and other diseases, using higher doses that include a few hundred mgs of DHA in it is needed. You should be able to use more than 1 pill of it to make up that amount though. The recommended dose of DHA+EPA is around 500 mg minimum per day.
I knew something like low on suppliment facts not making seven seas an option but didn’t know it was this low. Seeing the values it’s just not deserve a try for the cause.
Just now I did a thorough browsing on internet checking for all the available options for fish oil in India.
I could conclude only one brand close to Nature’s bounty in the similar price range with better EPA+DHA values.
It’s TWINLAB Omega-3 Fish Oil which is claiming to give 450 EPA-DHA combo per capsule whereas Nature’s Bounty gives 360 of the same per capsule. Also TWINLAB giving 100 capsules and Nature’s bounty only 60 for almost same price 😉
Please check more about it here and see if it is worth the money and patience :
I have this doubt about the price of fish oil.
Last time i bought from healthkart it was near 1000 rs for 100 softgels. But now when i was searching to order i found it was out of stock and ordered (odourless version) from healthgenie When it was delivered i found that it has only 60 softgels of 1200 mg for 1044 Rs i paid. Later I noticed in nykaa also the price is same. while in healthkart it shows 986 Rs only for 200 softgels here. Can anybody tell me what is the difference between these two products for that double price difference?
@indurahul, that 200 softgels on healthkart is a typographical error. I had ordered this same bottle from them and it had 60 softgels for around Rs. 1200.
Oh thank you @acnemantra ,
So odorless capsules are priced double compared to cholestrol free version.
@acnemantra @anuja : I would like to thank both of you for talking about natures bounty fish oil.. I was having bad skin days and nothing seemed to work.. I stopped retino since I was unable to take initial purging and nothing was able to stop my pimples.. even the small whitehead ones would develop into cystic ones and I wud get a new one after 3 to 4 days then I started taking natures bounty fish oil 1000 mg capsules (its just been a week ) but I havent got a single pimple since then and my skin is looking much healthier.. so thanks a ton for that.. now I cudnt find 1200mg capsules as I found 1000 mg with apollo chemists near my place. Wats the difference between the two ?? Also can I continue taking fish oil capsules without consulting the doc ?? What about taking it for a long term ?? I dont mind fishy burps as long as my skin stays healthy 😉
