It has been 4 weeks since I started the Starter Regimen. I am following it diligently, and I cant help but break down as I see my steadily worsening cystic acne on the cheeks. I use Kaya Soothing Gel and Sebamed in the morning, Followed by suncote. In the evening, I wash with kaya and apply triacneal. I have skin not yet gotten around to the anti-pigmentation cream as the same sites get reinffected and I am yet to rid myself of the pimples.
What are the other factors I can look into? Is it possible that I have super sensitive skin and should revert back to himalaya neem facewash? Or maybe I should go on a Salicylic Acid cleanse? Im so lost and dejected. What I thought was horrible acne a month back is now looking like a rosy, inattenable prospect.
I am not even taking any supplements, and have no food allergies. Other internal cycles (ahem, women) are regular and stable.
Any insight would be helpful, I am at my wit’s end! X(
Hi Neha, before you throw in the towel or switch to different products, let’s see if we can figure this out.
Are you using any makeup items at all – like powder, foundation, lipstick, eye liner, mascara etc.? If you are, what are they and how do you remove your makeup?
Are these the only 4 products you are using on your face at any time? – Kaya Soothing Cleansing gel + Sebamed Cleansing Foam + Suncote + Triacneal?
Yes. I gave up on covering my acne when I started the regimen.. better to cure than hide, right?
In that case, have a read through of this Troubleshooting Guide with a fine-tooth comb and see if you get a clue about what’s going wrong. Let me know.
About a week ago, I used Revlon Touch and Glow Compact to set my Sunscreen.. two days in a row. *guilty*
Try cutting out that compact and see if the situation improves.
Since you mentioned a “steadily worsening state while on Starter Regimen”, it makes me think your skin never improved but only worsened and worsened ever since your started using the regimen. Is that true?
Yeah. After the first two weeks, I did post a comment somehwhere.. My skin was all glowy and pretty, that made me really pleased! But the acne kept increasing, in both frequency and size. The healing time was about the same.
Im really sorry to be unloading on you like this, and I badly wanted it to work! Im thinking maybe Ill restart using an elongated elimination process? Like one whole week only facewash, then sebamed, and finally Triacneal?
Hey AM, where are you.. I hope you havent given up on me 🙁
No, no, I haven’t given up on you. 🙂 I was checking up on other things on the website. Your idea of using the elimination technique sounds perfect at this point. Although the Starter Regimen has a high success rate, it is possible you may need to switch up some products. To know which ones, the elimination technique will help. I’d say do not add new products or switch up products unless you figure out which is the culprit from your current routine.
Also, there might be something going on internally such as vitamin D3 deficiency, thyroid issues, insulin resistance or PCOS. I do not mean to scare you, but try to meet an endocrinologist + gynaecologist to rule out underlying issues. There’ve been quite a few girls and guys here who came out with vitamin deficiency and hormonal disorders when they got tested.
I’m up-to-date on thyroid.. doc ruled out PCOS as he said irregularity will be a definite symptom.. But yes, a complete checkup seems to be the logical choice here. Until over , I shall start over the Starter Regimen.
Thanks so much for your patience! Ill update you weekly 🙂 :*
have u eliminated any possible food reaction…
Another possibility is harmonal change…
